HeHuan seminars were developed by Volker Scheid PhD and Cinzia Scorzon MSc.
The general trend in Chinese medicine today is towards specialisation. The assumption is that the basics are covered in one’s undergraduate training and that one now has to add more detail. We take the opposite view. Throughout its long history Chinese medicine has always been generalist in orientation and its famous physicians never tired of admonishing their readers and students that successful clinical practice follows from a continuous deepening of core knowledge: of yin/yang, the five phases, the channels, treatment strategies, acupuncture points, herbs and formulas. We believe that such advice is particularly important today.
Drawing on sources from across all periods of Chinese medicine as well as on our own extensive clinical experience, this course will guide students and practitioners with a knowledge of basic TCM theory towards a more in-depth understanding of physiology, pathology and treatment strategies. Our goal is to help you feel more confident in tackling disorders faced in everyday practice by providing you with a wider array of diagnostic and therapeutic resources, and a broader knowledge of the Chinese medical tradition. Further seminars in this series discussing the other organ systems will follow.
